Sacred Thread Update: July New Moon 2019

Hello Embodied Wise Ones –

A few months ago I had the opportunity to walk a labyrinth. I love this practice. The process of embarking on an outer journey of twists and turns with a central destination and a re-emergence mirrors our inner process of growth and transformation. It is an ancient and potent practice and I was struck by many thoughts and insights as I walked and pondered. Here are my reflections from my journal entry after my walk…

Someone walked across the corner of the labyrinth with no regard for its sacredness or my presence…I began to judge and get angry… and then I realize that it doesn’t matter what others do or how they treat the space. What matters is how I act and treat the space. I am simply responsible for me and my actions no matter what another does or believes. Perhaps my presence and reverence will inspire others.

The process of moving towards center is not linear, not even concentric really, as the path moves closer then farther away, as it doubles back on itself and you come so close and then so far away. But every turn is necessary for the different angles and views and layers of insight it brings. Sometimes when you feel farthest away you are really just steps away from arriving. And arriving is not the end but another transition moment from which we launch ourselves back out again.

It is necessary just to stop and pause at different moments to feel the earth, the sun, the wind, the roar of the river, the call of the birds. To simply BE before taking the next step.

The path back out can no more be rushed than the the journey inwards. Purposeful steps always. The journey of growth and evolution is ongoing and never ending…this is its beauty and challenge. It is an inward journey, sure, but it’s potency is felt when it is brought back out into the everydayness of our lives.

The center, MY center, is everywhere.  Even when seemingly located somewhere out there it is within me and this is what reverberates and recognizes the centering places outside myself.

My offering doesn’t need to be grand. Ultimately, my offering is ME, is my steps and willingness to make the journey. The ritual of an offering is important and potent…as above so below, as within so with out…but simply a reflection.

Practice Prompts:

  • Come in for a Resiliency Session. Learn some simple and potent practices to come into the here and now and access more of your human wisdom and divine presence.
  • Take a walk (short or long) with a destination in mind. Then allow yourself to be with each step and with each moment of your journey. Allow your attention to presence yourself in the journey rather than the destination. This can also be fun with mundane trajectories like from the car to the grocery store, etc.
  • Explore cultivating a big picture view of the journey you are on. See if you can allow the twists and turns to be new vantage points and different possibilities rather than hurdles and obstacles.

Inspirational Wisdom:

A BEAUTY BLESSING

As stillness in stone to silence is wed
May your heart be somewhere a God might dwell.

As a river flows in ideal sequence
May your soul discover time is presence.

As the moon absolves the dark of distance
May thought-light console your mind with brightness.

As the breath of light awakens colour
May the dawn anoint your eyes with wonder.

As spring rain softens the earth with surprise
May your winter places be kissed by light.

As the ocean dreams to the joy of dance
May the grace of change bring you elegance.

As clay anchors a tree in light and wind
May your outer life grow from peace within.

As twilight fills night with bright horizons
May Beauty await you at home beyond.
